Nneka Ruiz Montalvo is an experienced banking professional, wife and mother of a spirited and energetic little boy who loves reading as much as she does.
Nneka has over 2 decades of experience in banking, an MBA in Finance and Management Science and is a certified Project Management Professional. She credits her academic and professional achievements to her outstanding parents who raised her to value getting a solid education and continuously build her knowledge, vocabulary and view of the world through reading.
She had a voracious appetite for reading which her parents nurtured by reading her bedtime stories every night and providing her with a steady supply of new books to read. They also led by example by reading many books and magazines and being very knowledgeable about global current events and trends.
The Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 inspired Nneka to look for ways to increase representation of people of colour in her son’s bookshelf and eventually led her to launch My Reflection Children’s Bookstore with its primary focus on providing children’s books with characters of colour.
